Daycare Trust trainers

All Daycare Trust trainers are experienced trainers and experts in their field of knowledge, gained through practical experience of working in the childcare sector and through consultancy and project work on a national and local level with policy makers and service providers and commissioners . 

Our regular trainers are:

Diane Dixon

Diane Dixon has been designing and delivering training on a range of subjects for more than 20 years. She is also a Daycare Trust consultant and in this role has undertaken work with local authorities and regional government in relation to childcare sufficiency, children's centres, the information advice and assistance duty of the Childcare Act and childcare issues for children and young people with disabilities and their parents. 

Her work away from Daycare Trust includes consultancy projects on equalities, refugees and asylum seekers, human rights and evaluations of voluntary sector organisations.  Diane holds an MA in Politics and is a qualified youth & community worker.

Kathleen Egan  

Kathleen has been working as a community consultant for over 9 years. Prior to this, she worked across several sectors including social care (when she ran a nursery in Islington for 6 years), local authorities, housing associations and in the voluntary sector for 20 years. Kathleen is currently and has been a Consultant and Trainer for: Daycare Trust, Age Concern, Futurebuilders, Social Enterprise London, Association of British Credit Unions, Co-operative Development Agencies and several local authorities and community organisations.

Her work has required an ongoing understanding of current national and local government initiatives in the field of childcare, poverty, regeneration, project management, local delivery and partnership arrangement and has been primarily focused on the needs of disadvantaged communities experiencing social and financial exclusion in inner London.

Radhika Howarth

Radhika Howarth has over 16 years' experience of community development and research work with minority ethnic communities. She has undertaken research, advocacy and capacity building initiatives with children, young people and families from BME communities.

She worked for ten years with Save the Children as a research and development officer, which included working on participation issues and child rights. She has undertaken a number of research projects investigating the childcare needs of ethnic minority families across England and designed and delivered courses on ways to promote the participation of children and parents from BME communities in service planning and delivery. She has a MA in Applied Research and Evaluation and is fluent in Bengali, Urdu and Hindi.

Jacqui Leith

Jacqui is a freelance Children's Services trainer and consultant. She currently undertakes work for a number of different organisations including the Training & Development Agency for Schools (TDA). She is also employed on a part-time as a Regional Development Manager by 4 Children, covering the East & London regions. 

Previously, Jacqui managed a diverse range of services in both the voluntary and statutory sectors, working with the most vulnerable children & young people across the 0-19 age range. Experience includes managing a Sure Start Local Programme and projects supporting care-leavers, young homeless, offenders and teenage parents.

Jacqui is experienced at working regionally and nationally and supports Local Authorities to develop strategies and policies. Particular areas of expertise include extended schools, childcare, parenting support, integrated children's services and consultation and involvement.    

Ann Munday

Ann has over 11 years experience of project management and delivering training to employers, Local Authorities, and the NHS Strategic Health Authority. She is adept at preparing and delivering workshops, managing budgets, service providers and contract negotiation. Ann has good research and analytical skills and is the author and co author of several impact analyses, strategic reports and toolkits. She has experience of operating at Board level within the NHS and was an implementer and trainer of the Electronic Knowledge and Skills Framework (EKSF) in connection with NHS Agenda for Change.

Ann's extensive background in childcare including managing two Children's Information Services and former role of Chair of the National Association of Children's Information Services makes her ideally suited to training on childcare issues.

Donna Sheldon (DMS Consulting)

Over the past 15 years, Donna has developed and delivered training and opportunities to share good practice with a range of childcare practitioners, professionals, consultants and organisations nationally.  She has extensive experience of writing business skills training materials, specifically for the childcare sector.  Working nationally with all types of childcare providers, Donna has developed an in-depth understanding of the common issues faced by childcare providers and the solutions that support sustainable provision including developing realistic business plans. 

Through working with a number of local authorities, PCT's and childcare organisations she has developed a thorough knowledge of the sector including, government policy, legislation, occupational and quality standards and frameworks.
