Families First Quality Award for Children's Centres
 |
Children’s Centres have requested a NAFIS quality award to more accurately reflect their role in providing high quality information services to parents in line with the Information Duty (Childcare Act 2006).
|
NAFIS is pleased to launch the new set of standards for Children’s Centres that build upon the original Families First Quality Award (FFQA) for local authority Family Information Services (FIS).
These standards have been produced in partnership with Suffolk County Council’s Family Information Service (FIS) and Early Years and Childcare Service. They are specifically tailored for Sure Start Children’s Centres to help them provide quality information, advice and assistance to families in their local reach areas.
The scheme provides a framework for all Sure Start Children’s Centres, at any stage of the developmental journey, to improve upon their delivery of information to parents and families.
All children’s centre staff know that information is a key tool for parents and carers, providing options and possibilities that might otherwise remain unknown and therefore inaccessible. High quality information services that reach out to parents and carers are key to making these possibilities a reality.
The standards can also be used by local authority commissioners to help ensure the information, advice and assistance delivered by children’s centres is of the highest quality, and meets the Information Duty requirements.
The standards are now available and we have already received a lot of interest from children’s centre managers. For further information about the award please contact Anthony Ellison at aellison@daycaretrust.org.uk or on 020 7940 7527.
