In-house training
All Daycare Trust courses can be delivered in house on the date and venue of your choice for groups of up to 15 people. This can be a very economical and convenient way of arranging training. You could make further savings by sharing the costs with other organisations in your area.
In-house training allows our trainers to focus on the particular areas of work that you are interested in, and can help you to address issues and challenges as a team.

Courses for advisers
These courses offer practical information and resources for people who work directly with parents:
- Encouraging take-up of childcare services by Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities
This course looks at ways to reach out to and engage with BME parents to encourage take-up of childcare services.
- Help with childcare costs
This course gives advisers an overview of the help parents can get with the costs of childcare using case studies and group work to show how the different types of help work in practice.
- Meeting the childcare needs of parents through information and brokerage
This course offers practical guidance to advisers to support parents to identify and access the right childcare.
- Understanding Tax Credits
This half day workshop focuses exclusively on tax credits with a particular emphasis on the childcare element of Working Tax Credit.
Courses for providers
These courses offer hands-on, practical training for good practice and business sustainability whether you are an independent, voluntary or local authority childcare provider.
- Debt management
This very practical half day course looks at how to implement strategies on reducing debt; implementing a fair fees policy; calculating a break-even fee and ensuring business sustainability.
- Boosting occupancy
This half day course offers clear strategies on creating systems to monitor occupancy; develop a marketing plan and understand how and when to promote your service. This course can be combined with Debt management to make up a one day course.
- Preparing for Ofsted Inspection and the Self-Evaluation process
Be prepared for your next inspection by understanding policy requirements; developing the tools for self-evaluation and implementing an action plan.
- Encouraging the participation of parents in your centre
This half day course offers guidance on how to engage and consult with parents; reaching hard-to-reach groups and conducting effective evaluation.
Workshops for strategic leads
These workshops outline current and future policy and practice for people who are involved in the development and delivery of childcare services.
- Supporting disabled children and their families in securing childcare
This workshop is aimed at assisting with the planning of inclusive childcare across all settings. it covers learning from the Disabled Children's Access to Childcare (DCATCH), examines effective and sustainable practices and ways of allocating resources.
- Business planning for sustainability
This course helps childcare setting managers to develop the skills crucial to the sustainability of their settings.
- Childcare data collection and analysis
This course looks at the key research methods, principles and skills required for carrying out data collection and analysis, key to the success of local authority teams in developing services which improve outcomes for children and families.
- Duty to provide information, advice and assistance
This course provides delegates with an overview of the duty as well as practical guidance on developing services to comply with the Act, including a practical overview of the Families First quality standard.
- Integrating children's services
This course aims to help local authorities to lead on the integrated delivery of children's services. The course provides an overview of local authorities' requirements and practical guidance to enable joint planning and commissioning of services.
- Listening to the voices of young children
Under the Childcare Act 2006, all local authorities must take into account the views of young children when planning and commissioning services. This course looks at research and practice around engaging with young children
- Securing sufficient childcare
This course looks at the strategic role of local authorities to secure sufficient childcare in their area through managing the local childcare market.
