Government Office of London (2008/09)

Daycare Trust in partnership with Firstcare Consultancy were commissioned by Government Office for London (GOL) to assist them in providing support for London's local authorities to secure sufficient childcare derived from their new statutory duties arising from the Childcare Act 2006.

Work strand 1- Targeting Sufficiency: Older Children, Disabled Children and children with English as a second language.

Work strand 2- Single Funding Formula and Free Entitlement Offer

Work strand 3- Take-up

This project resulted in a toolkit which is available at www.younglondonmatters.org.

Parent Champions (2007/09)

Commissioned by the Department of Children, Schools and Families, Daycare Trust developed a Parent Champions model which sees parents disseminating childcare information too hard to reach parents in their community. This resulted in significant increases in take-up. A toolkit was also developed and is available at www.dcsf.gov.uk. Daycare Trust also offers Parent Champion training and other services for local authorities.

Luton Borough Council (2008 ongoing)

Commissioned by Luton Borough Council to provide support in relation to the DCSF-funded pilot to increase access to childcare by disabled children.

Year one of the project has shown great progress and we look forward to progress and outcomes of the remainder of the pilot.
