Daycare Trust's National childcare week, now in its 12th year, aims to promote the importance of investing in childcare, out-of-school activities and early years' provision for children to strengthen and contribute to children's play and learning providing a good foundation for their future.
'So much of who and what we are is determined by our younger years. National Childcare Week will help today's children to have a happy tomorrow.'
Dan Freedman
Author of The Kick Off (Jamie Johnson series)
We very much hope that you will help us celebrate National childcare week through the various events and activities planned for the week.
Kindly supported by The Children's Mutual
Entries for this year's National childcare week children's competition came pouring in. Our judges Sonali Shah from CBBC; Keith Chapman, creator of Bob the Builder, Fifi and Roary the Racing Car; Tony Anderson, from The Children's Mutual and Alison Garnham, Joint Chief Executive of Daycare Trust viewed all the paintings, drawings and artwork. Children aged 2 to 10 told us what they want to be when they grow up, including an architect, artists, doctors, police men and women, soldier, teachers, nurses, firefighters, pirates and princesses. Older children sent in pictures and artwork depicting their best outdoor space.
'This year's Foundation for the Future art competition has been of a particularly high standard. It's great to see so many children showing off their artistic talents revealing their ambitions and dreams for the future. Well done Daycare Trust for encouraging this important initiative.''
Keith Chapman
'It's always great to hear kids talking about what they want to do when they grow up, so seeing so many children turn their ambitions into art was fantastic. As always, it wasn't easy to pick winners because there were so many impressive entries, but well done to all those who did win.'
Sonali Shah, CBBC presenter
