National childcare week 2011

National childcare week

Parents as partners

National childcare week will run from  11 - 18 July 2011.

Daycare Trust’s National childcare week, now in its 14th year, aims to promote the importance of childcare, extended schools, and early years' provision for children which helps to strengthen and contribute to children’s play and learning which in turn provides a good foundation for their future. This year is a double celebration for Daycare Trust, as we are proud to marking 25 years of campaigning for quality, affordable, accessible childcare for all.  We very much hope that you will join with Daycare Trust to celebrate National childcare week through organising your own event or getting involved with the various events and activities planned for the week. The theme, Parents as partners draws upon Daycare Trust’s work in acting as the voice of parents, and promoting opportunities for parents and carers to get involved with their childcare settings and providers.

Children’s art competition

We are asking children and young people of all ages to participate in our annual children's art competition.  Last year the winner received a fantastic stay at one of Haven's holiday parks, plus the runners up received high street vouchers and goodies.  Finalists will be invited to our awards ceremony where they will get the opportunity to meet our judges who, last year included Keith Chapman, creator of Bob the Builder, Fifi and the Flowertots and co-creator of Roary the Racing Car, Sonali Shah from CBBC Newsround and Naomi Wilkinson.  For further details email us.

Support National childcare week
There are a number of ways that you can get involved, but you will also have ideas or activities of your own that you want to develop. We want as many people as possible to get involved with National childcare week.

Organising your own event

By holding an event in your childcare setting you can encourage others to see how the childcare you provide brings positive outcomes to children. Invite parents to come and celebrate the work that you do.
If you want to support the week by organising your own event or activity then please email us at: nationalchildcareweek.org.uk and we will be happy to provide promotional materials and add your event to our calendar of activities.

Birthday bash

Why not organise your own birthday bash for Daycare Trust.  The bash can be as big or as small as you want, or you can link with your own family birthdays. If you would like to, you can use this as a fundraising event, just ask your guests to make a birthday contribution for attendance which will be donated to Daycare Trust.  To help make the organisation and planning as simple as possible, Daycare Trust along with Chapman Entertainment have produced a special birthday bash pack which includes:

You can pick and choose the items you want, or you can theme it with Roary the Racing Car, Fifi and the Flowertots or Charley Bear. Visit our website to download your Birthday Bash materials.  View all the materials.
